ROBOTIC TOTAL KNEE ARTHROPLASTY
Total knee arthropathy is an operation in which the entire joint that has been worn (arthritis) is replaced with artificial metal parts to stop the pain and improve knee motility. It is one of the fastest growing in frequency surgeries in the world and we are now implementing Fast Track protocols (the patient gets discharged very quickly in 1-3days).
Dr Panayi uses the latest robotic technology system CORI (from the American company Smith& Nephew) for his total knee replacements which is the only one in Cyprus and one of the few in Europe.
Τhe use of robotic navigation technology offers great accuracy in implants placement, correction of limb alignment through computer calculations, smaller incision, less blood loss and less post operative pain.
Dr. Panayi also uses three-dimensional (3D) reconstruction of the joint during surgical design and single use Personalized Surgical Instruments manufactured by a robotic 3D printer for patients who choose this surgical method.
Dr. Panayi has been working with new technologies for knee replacements since 2010 and has been regularly evolving his surgical methods in conferences and trainings every year.
